Standing Up for India’s Street Dogs: Toronto Joins the Global Rally

On August 11th 2025,, Pawsitive Sanctuary proudly joined forces with Stray Dog Support and SPCA International to host a rally in Toronto — part of a global movement to stand up for the rights and lives of India’s street dogs.

The rally was sparked by a recent Supreme Court ruling in Delhi, which stated that 1 million dogs would be sent to shelters. The devastating truth is that there simply are no shelters equipped to handle this scale — turning the ruling into what many fear is a death sentence for countless innocent dogs.

From India to Canada, animal lovers across the world are raising their voices to say: street dogs deserve compassion, not condemnation. These dogs are not disposable; they are living beings who deserve safety, love, and care. We are so grateful that our rally attracted HGTV's celebrity Hilary Farr and the Animal Save Movement.

In Toronto, our community gathered with banners, chants, and an unshakable spirit of solidarity. Together, we stood alongside thousands worldwide, showing that the fight for these animals’ lives transcends borders.

We believe that every dog, no matter where they are born, has the right to live free from suffering and cruelty. Our rally was more than a protest — it was a call for change, for better solutions, and for compassion-driven policies that value the lives of all animals.
