About Pawsitive Sanctuary

Pawsitive Sanctuary - Paws is a care shelter for sick, injured and paralyzed animals. It was established in the year 2019 with the motive of providing medical aid and shelter to the distressed animals in Amritsar, Punjab. Our aim is to spay or neuter all the dogs in the city - we have successfully neutered more than 1500 dogs.

Meet The Founder

Brought up in Canada, Amita Seth had taken a trip to her hometown in India in 2019 where she became extremely inspired.

The city of Amritsar had about 65,000 stray dogs and she knew she had to do something about it. Her courage, determination and resilience has been the backbone of building Pawsitive Sanctuary.

We have a section for paralyzed dogs and they all have theirs own carts/ wheelchairs. Apart from paralyzed dogs, we have blind dogs as well who cannot survive on the road. Our physiotherapist helps take care of them.

On Road Free Treatment

We are committed to providing free on-road treatment for injured and sick street animals. Our dedicated team ensures that animals in need receive immediate medical attention, helping them recover and lead healthier lives. Every day we provide free treatment to injured and sick animals who become a victim of cruelty and neglect. Our OPD (Out Patient Department) handles emergency cases.

Meet Hazel ❤️
She was beloved by the locals, but tragically, she was hit by a vehicle and suffered a fractured forelimb. Fortunately, a caring reporter brought her to us from Beas, where our vet quickly assessed her condition. We found that she has a minor fracture that can be treated with a plaster cast. We’ve applied the cast, and she will need antibiotics and calcium supplements to support her healing process.

After she recovers, we’ll also spay her to ensure her future well-being. Hazel is such a brave girl, and we’re committed to giving her the care she needs. Please send her all your love and positive thoughts ❤️‍🩹

*CRITICAL* Jacky was beaten mercilessly, nearly to the point of death by a sick individual who then callously threw him into a well thinking he was dead. 💔😢

A passerby who heard Jacky's cry for help was filled with rage upon seeing him. He asked other people to help get Jacky out of the well, which they did, and then brought him to our shelter. Jacky's one eye bulged out of its socket, head swollen like a balloon, his face streaked with dried blood, and filled with pain.

Jacky is in critical condition. It's clear that road to recovery will be long. His damaged eye will need to be surgically removed, but the severe swelling poses a significant obstacle. The trauma he has endured has left not only physical scars but also deep emotional wounds. He even gets scared of the gentlest touch. 🥺

It's unfathomable how anyone could do this kind of cruelty to any defenseless being. To the perpetrator of this cruelty, know that justice will find its way to you one day. 😠

As of now, our only hope is for a miracle to see him happy and healthy. His medical treatment has just begun, and it comes with a hefty price tag. We humbly ask for your support - every donation, no matter how small, can make a difference in saving Jacky's life.

Emergency 🆘️🆘️ Poor Enzo is fighting for his life as a tumor is growing rapidly inside his mouth. Unable to eat, his skinny and fragile body, along with his cries of pain that could tear anyone's's heart. Enzo is in critical condition and needs your help.💔

Enzo's family went from one vet to the next, seeking a cure for his disease. But what broke our hearts was when the vets said the treatment would be long and expensive, and their only option was to euthanize him because Enzo's family couldn't afford it.

Enzo's family felt helpless, torn between ending their precious furry babies' suffering and not wanting to let him go because of the cost of the treatment. They believed he deserved another chance at life and didn't lose their hope. They found us on Instagram and brought him from Fatehabad to Amritsar.

Many may believe that giving Enzo a peaceful death is kinder than watching him suffer each day. But we've witnessed incredible miracles where even the most hopeless cases found their way back to life. That's why we believe Enzo deserves a fighting chance.

Enzo is currently receiving fluids through an IV and a liquid diet. We're awaiting test results to map out his treatment plan. What we know is that he might need several rounds of chemotherapy and possibly surgery for his tumor.

Update on Shifu 🐾

We are thrilled to share that Shifu has made incredible progress! Rescued after being hit by a car and left paralyzed, her journey began in a heartbreaking way. However, thanks to the dedicated physiotherapy and the loving care from @aashimamahendru1 she has not only started walking again but is now running with joy. Her legs are still a bit wobbly, but her determination is shining through, and we believe she will regain her strength completely.

This transformation is a testament to the power of love and support. While we still face challenges in finding her a forever home, Shifu’s spirit continues to inspire us all. Thank you for sending your love and encouragement—it’s truly making a difference in her recovery ❤️‍🩹

Meet Jaanu, a sweet and resilient girl who has always been cherished by her family. Tragically, her world turned upside down when a bike struck her hind leg. They rushed her to a government hospital, but only received painkillers and a referral for further treatment, leaving them distraught.

After our paravet examined Jaanu, it was evident that her injuries were severe. Her leg is broken, with bones exposed, and she urgently requires amputation surgery to relieve her pain and give her a chance to recover.

We are waiting for our surgeon’s appointment and are raising $150 for her surgery and post-operative care. Jaanu deserves a second chance at life, and with your help, we can make it happen. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for standing by Jaanu in her time of need!

Meet Jasper, a labrador who was abandoned, paws crushed by a reckless truck driver, with a lump on his stomach, left to suffer on the streets.😪

A shopkeeper informed us about Jasper's condition. He also told us that a few days ago, a heartless man abandoned Jasper in the market, and a few days after that, he had an accident in which his paws were crushed by a reckless truck driver. The shopkeeper who witnessed this happening tried to feed him, but the poor boy was heartbroken and did not eat anything. 💔

We may never understand why Jasper was abandoned, but what matters now is that he is not alone. Jasper is now a member of the Paws family, where love and care will heal his wounds, physically and emotionally.

The road ahead is tough—there is also a large lump on his stomach that needs to be surgically removed, a reminder of his past neglect by his family. But with your help, we can ensure Jasper's journey is one of hope and healing.

Update on Camilla 🐾
We’re pleased to share that Camilla’s surgery was a success! Previously rescued from the Medicine Market in Amritsar, she was diagnosed with a hernia after an initial concern about a mammary gland tumor. She has now been spayed, and the hernia that weighed her down is no longer an issue. Camilla is healed, receiving plenty of love, care, and the right medication.
